IND-W vs AUS-W: Indian women’s cricket team is currently on a tour of Australia. The first ODI match is being played between India and Australia women’s team today.
Team India’s captain Mithali Raj has created history in the first ODI match between the two teams. Captain Mithali has completed 20,000 runs in her career. She has completed 20,000 in First Class Cricket, List A and T20 all cricket. She also scored a fifty in the first ODI against Australia.
Fifth consecutive fifty in ODI cricket
Not only this, Mithali has become the first cricketer (men and women) in the world, who has scored 50 or more runs in 5 consecutive ODIs, creating history. No other player has been able to do this feat so far.
Earlier, Mithali scored 79 runs against South Africa in Lucknow, 72 runs against England, Taunton 59 runs against England and 75 runs for England in Worcester. However, 38-year-old Mithali made her international debut for India in the year 1999.
Mithali India’s batsman is already the highest scorer in women’s international cricket. India’s women’s batting unit got off to a good start in today’s match.
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana provided a quick start as the opening pair scored 31 runs inside the first four overs. However, Australia made the right comeback as Brown dismissed both Shafali (8) and Mandhana (16) to reduce India to 38/2 in the sixth over.
After this Yastika and Mithali came together at the crease and both the batsmen shared 77 runs for the third wicket. Overall, India were reduced to 129/4 in the 31st over.
Mithali may have scored 61 runs but her strike rate could be in the news once again as she scored off 107 balls and Sophie Molyneux ended her innings in the 38th over.
